Hyvää Joulua!!!! From Santa's house.

I was lucky enough to be invited to Mia's house for Christmas this year since I couldn't go home for the holidays. We made it to Finland with no problems and came home to a wonderfully festive home. After a long night of sleep, Mia and I were in charge of getting the Christmas tree. This involved her mom driving us to the store, getting the tree, and then carrying (well....dragging...) it back to Mia's house!

After that we made some delicious ginger bread cookies, and Mia's friend Hanna came over for some sledding fun!

Delicious!

Mia and Hanna and the UFOs.

Hanna fell. hahah

That hill was a mistake!

After a fun time in the snow!

The next day Mia and I decorated the tree! This was a great challenge for us because we get distracted easy! But it turned out lovely!

Tahhhh Dahhhh!

Then we traveled to Helsinki for some fun in the city and to go to her father's apartment for dinner! We went ice skating with her boyfriend Max and friend Iris, and it was -20 degrees C. BRRR! It forced me to buy a new coat :)

I needed help. Good thing they were prepared for me!

Oh so graceful!

Mia and Max!

Dinner with Mia's dad and Margarita and Mia's Mummi was absolutely lovely!

The next day was Christmas Eve! In Finland, all the festivities happen on this day! We woke up and had an amazing Christmas Eve breakfast and then we played some childhood games with Mia's brother, Sami.

Santa came!

And brought me mittens!

The beautiful table!

This was an amazing Christmas and I can honestly say that Finland with Mia's family is definitely my Home away from Home!

Now it is bed time!

Mia comes to London!!!

The Christmas holiday finally began and I was one excited/thrilled girl. One of my best friends ever, Mia, came to visit me in London! This was her first time in England and I was really excited to show her around!
(I had visited Mia earlier in October in Finland for 5 days, now it was her turn to come see me!)

Mia arrived on the 16th at night so all we did that day was get some dinner at a great noodle place around the area we were staying. The next morning, we moved to our 'new home' for the next two nights! We stayed in near South Kensington in the Astor Hyde Park hostel. Once we figured out how to get there, we were golden!

We were a couple of hours early for check in, so we put our luggage in storage and went to find something to eat because we were STARVING!

Then.....the holy grail was found. ENGLISH BREAKFAST!!!

Mia loved her breakfast and traditional English tea!

Once we were all ready, we went back to our hostel to check in. Let me tell you, this place was one wonderful hostel and I completely recommend it to anyone! Mia and I stayed in a 6-person mixed dorm. Ha we were eventually put with 3 boys, but they were lovely people! They were from Germany, Australia, and Ireland. We went to Covent Garden that evening and had dinner with my friend Lis from Nottingham, and then we headed back to our hostel to save up energy for our day of touring!

Mia and some lovely telephone booths!

The next morning was cold, but we headed to Primark first thing to beat the rush. Primark is a wonderfully cheap department store! We all love it! But while we were in the store, it started to snow!

and snowed....

and snowed....

and snowwwwwweeeeedddddd.......

Mia and I are tough cookies, so we braved the cold to do our tourist thing before leaving the next afternoon!

Myself, Mia, and the National Gallery. Well the top of it!

After that massive day of touring, we decided to take it easy at our hostel for the night and mingle with the people there. We got up the next morning and headed to Slough (just outside of London) to spend a couple of days with Simren and her absolutely lovely family!

She had it comin!

BOOOOOMMMM!

So pretty!

Wahoo for self timers!

After all that snow, I needed some hot chocolate....with baileys. :)

Thankfully, Mia and I didn't have any problems with weather and traveling and we arrived in Finland 15 minutes early! :) Christmas time in Finland next.
